The PhD Program Health Sciences (PPHS) program is a training and networking program for PhD students in the following disciplines: Epidemiology (Faculty of Science) and Clinical Research, Medicines Development, Nursing Science, Public Health/Epidemiology incl. Insurance Medicine and Sport Science (Faculty of Medicine) at the University of Basel. Its goal is to strengthen both interdisciplinary collaboration between the University’s health sciences PhD programs and the integration of scientific research on professional career development. It also offers PhD candidates and advisors access to diverse resources such as start stipends, comprehensive online lists and materials, course offers, possibilities of networking and training on career and research days, health-science summer schools, and courses to develop interdisciplinary competencies.

spineSPINE
The Swiss PhD in Nursing Science Educational Platform (SPINE) is an academic collaboration between the INS, University of Basel, Faculty of Medicine and the Faculté de biologie et de médecine, University of Lausanne (UNIL) – Institut Universitaire de Formation et de Recherche en Soins (IUFRS). The goal of SPINE is to establish a sufficient pool of PhD-prepared nurses to assume leadership roles in advancing health research, clinical care delivery, policy, healthcare management, and education, as well as to prepare subsequent generations of healthcare professionals to meet the challenges of the healthcare system of tomorrow. As an educational program, SPINE provides basic and advanced formal research training, offers training in transferable skills, fosters personal and professional development, and opportunities to form doctoral committees with expert professors.

ssphplusThe Swiss School of Public Health (SSPH+) is the national inter-university network of institutions and faculties engaged in public health sciences. It is a Foundation of 8 Universities: University of Basel, Bern, Geneva, Lausanne, Lucerne, Neuchâtel, Zurich and the Università della Svizzera italiana. The SSPH+ inter-university faculty currently consist in ~130 SSPH+ Fellows supervising 350-400 PhD students. Due to the strong positioning of public health by Uni Basel, ~40% of the SSPH+ Fellows are affiliated with Uni Basel.
